Biography

Dr. Amir Rostami is currently the Chair of the Swedish Government Committee of Inquiry Against Welfare Fraud.  Dr. Rostami is also a Police Superintendent at the Swedish Police with research and development as the areas of his responsibility. He has primarily worked with combating organized crime as a detective and intelligence officer in Stockholm. Dr. Rostami was head of the EU-funded project, a collaboration with The Metropolitan Police Service (London), The Danish National Police and The Norwegian Police Service, and Oslo Police District to study and develop new methods in the fight against gangs and gang crime. Dr. Rostami has also served as senior advisor to the Swedish National coordinator against violent extremism. He holds a Ph.D. in sociology at Stockholm University and is a researcher at the Institute for Futures Studies. His has a longstanding interest in the sociology of organized crime and violent extremism.
