Biography

Lt. Michelle Folmar has been in law enforcement for 24 years. Her assignments have included positions as an academy instructor in firearms, arrest control, and driving. She has also served as a field trainer, and a detective in Major Crime with the DV & Biased Motivated Units, along with being a crisis negotiator. Michelle’s administrative assignments have included Internal Affairs, member of the Community Corrections Board, and as a LGBTQ+ Liaison for the Denver Police Department. Michelle holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and is actively involved in supporting the department’s Peer Support and mental health programs. Currently, she is the Director of Training where she oversees the Academy, Firearms Range, and all continuing education for the department’s sworn officers. She instructs Ethics, Understanding Bias, and Leadership, and teaches assessment center prep. Michelle has always had a passion for mentoring and considers herself a lifelong learner.
